Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club sponsored Benjamin Davis to compete in the Carifta Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships in 2023. He is a multi-talented athlete who trains as a swimmer and long distance runner. At the Dollhouse Memorial Swim Meet in 2022, held at the National Aquatic Center in Jamaica, Benjamin finished first in the 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter individual medley (IM) and 200-meter freestyle, setting a new national age-group record for the 13–14 year-old boys’ 800-meter freestyle. Davis also scored 51 points for the Montego Bay group.
Leanna Wainwright began receiving donations from the Club in 2019. She is a professionally trained swimmer who competes locally and internationally.
In 2023, she competed in the CCCAN Games and the Junior World Championships. She made history as the first female swimmer from western Jamaica to compete at the top junior national levels. In the Pan American Games she was the 2nd person from western Jamaica to appear in over ten years at these games. During 2023, she held the fastest national times in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke for her age group (15-17).
She then represented Jamaica in the 2024 Carifta Games securing bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke respectively and a silver medal in the 4×50 freestyle relays.
In December 2022 Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club sponsored the Mt. Alvernia High School Swim Team with swimming gear to compete at the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Swim Meet in Kingston.
The Club provided sponsorship for the meet which took place over the period March 10-12, 2023 which included swim clinics conducted by Jamaica’s PanAm Aquatics Ambassador, Alia Atkinson and US based Olympic swimmer Patrick Groters. Due to the fact that the infrastructure for the development of a competitive swimming program is mainly located in and around the Kingston Metropolitan region, talented swimmers in Jamaica’s rural areas are usually at a disadvantage. As an Ambassador, Alia Atkinson sought to counter this by embarking on a program to highlight the positive impact of swimming, and to identify and encourage talented swimmers from rural Jamaica to develop their skills to a competitive level.
