In the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s devastating impact in October 2025, the spirit of community resilience has remained a beacon of hope for Jamaica. On November 17, 2025, Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club was proud to lead a relief initiative dedicated to supporting the essential auxiliary staff at Cornwall Regional Hospital.
The Club provided 200 comprehensive care packages to hospital personnel. This effort was a true collaborative labor of love; members of the Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club worked side-by-side with our dedicated staff to source, sort, and hand-assemble each package.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Knutsford Express for their invaluable sponsorship. By providing professional transportation and logistical support, they ensured our team could travel safely and that the care packages were stored and delivered to Cornwall Regional Hospital with the utmost efficiency.
In response to the impact of Hurricane Melissa, Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club donated 250 comprehensive care packages to the auxiliary staff of the St. James Municipal Corporation on November 29, 2025. This entire relief initiative from full funding to the manual assembly of each package was managed by our team as part of our ongoing commitment to the Montego Bay community.
On April 4, 2026, the Gloves Over Guns initiative hosted a local boxing match at its Montego Bay Boxing Gym located upstairs at the Montego Bay Cricket Club. This event is part of a series intended to be held every two months to foster sportsmanship and discipline within the city.The Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club continues to support this initiative as part of its community outreach, providing a positive environment for young minds to pivot away from violent activities through structured sports.
On April 26, 2026, Project Star hosted its annual community town hall, showcasing the transformative impact of its initiatives within the Salt Spring community. As a proud sponsor, Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club is honored to support these milestones in social and economic development.
One of the most engaging highlights of the event was the introduction of Interactive Wish Boards. This initiative allows residents to directly influence the future of their community by selecting priority areas of interest across various categories.
This data-driven, community-first approach ensures that Project Star remains aligned with the authentic needs of Salt Spring, allowing for more impactful and personalized interventions.

In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, Westhaven Children’s Home faced substantial challenges following extensive damage to the property’s roofing and core infrastructure. We are pleased to share that through a dedicated restoration and support initiative, significant progress has been made toward recovery.
In 2024 the Club partnered with Project Star which is a charity based organization that engages volatile communities to aid in their transformation and development. The programs and initiatives include job opportunities, entrepreneurship training, remedial education, after school programs, nutritional support and parental counselling.
Project STAR achieved notable success from June 2024 to May 2025 across its key program areas. The Education and Youth initiatives served a total of 86 students through remedial and after-school programs, while 165 youth participated in various development programs, including sports and creative arts. In the area of Employment and Entrepreneurship, the STAR Training Programme saw 78 individuals complete job readiness training. Additionally, the STAR Entrepreneurship Programme provided support to 31 individuals/businesses, with 9 of them receiving business grants. Finally, the program focused on improving family structures, hosted workshops and events for 44 children, 25 seniors, and 55 residents, offering parenting support and other community-based activities.
Wings Kidz Ltd was a charitable organization that was established In October 2022. Their program caters to children in the inner-city communities of St. James. Children who participated in the program obtained assistance in numeracy, literacy, homework assistance, character development, music and sports activities. Doctor’s Cave has sponsored Wings Kidz since 2024. During this period Doctor’s Cave has donated stipends for the literacy teachers, storage cabinets, a portable white board, practice drum pads, recorders and basketball equipment.
During the period 2020-2025, Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club partnered with the Jamaica Boxing Board to sponsor their “Gloves Over Guns” project. This initiative is a “sport for growth” program that reaches out to young people in neighborhoods affected by violence using boxing to promote personal growth, social support, and community harmony. The partnership provided counselling for the participants to better address areas such as conflict management and interpersonal relationships. Doctor’s Cave sponsored coaching and counselling fees and the refurbishment of the bathroom facilities and boxing ring at the training facility.
Westhaven Children’s Home was established in 1986. It provides accommodation for disabled and mentally challenged adults and children providing nutritional support, medical care and emotional support. It currently houses 92 residents from the age groups 9-46 years old. Doctor’s Cave has been contributing to Westhaven Children’s Home since 2015.
The Community for the upliftment of the Mentally Ill (CUMI) is a registered charity organization that has been raising funds over the past 32 years to support individuals that are mentally challenged. DCBC has partnered with this organization from 2019 and has sponsored their monthly meeting space at the DCBC conference room and contributed to their annual Golf tournament (formerly CUMi Run/Walk).
