Social Intervention

Project Star

In 2024 the Club partnered with Project Star which is a charity based organization that engages volatile communities to aid in their transformation and development. The programs and initiatives include job opportunities, entrepreneurship training, remedial education, after school programs, nutritional support and parental counselling.

Project STAR achieved notable success from June 2024 to May 2025 across its key program areas. The Education and Youth initiatives served a total of 86 students through remedial and after-school programs, while 165 youth participated in various development programs, including sports and creative arts. In the area of Employment and Entrepreneurship, the STAR Training Programme saw 78 individuals complete job readiness training. Additionally, the STAR Entrepreneurship Programme provided support to 31 individuals/businesses, with 9 of them receiving business grants. Finally, the program focused on improving family structures, hosted workshops and events for 44 children, 25 seniors, and 55 residents, offering parenting support and other community-based activities.

Di Cawna Library

In August 2023, Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club donated to the Di Cwana Library to establish a resource center that enables children and adults in inner communities to access and return books and educational materials. These resources are stored in repurposed old refrigerators.

Wings Kidz Ltd

Wings Kidz Ltd was a charitable organization that was established In October 2022. Their program caters to children in the inner-city communities of St. James. Children who participated in the program obtained assistance in numeracy, literacy, homework assistance, character development, music and sports activities. Doctor’s Cave has sponsored Wings Kidz since 2024. During this period Doctor’s Cave has donated stipends for the literacy teachers, storage cabinets, a portable white board, practice drum pads, recorders and basketball equipment.

Gloves Over Guns

During the period 2020-2025, Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club partnered with the Jamaica Boxing Board to sponsor their “Gloves Over Guns” project. This initiative is a “sport for growth” program that reaches out to young people in neighborhoods affected by violence using boxing to promote personal growth, social support, and community harmony. The partnership provided counselling for the participants to better address areas such as conflict management and interpersonal relationships. Doctor’s Cave sponsored coaching and counselling fees and the refurbishment of the bathroom facilities and boxing ring at the training facility.

WestHaven Children’s Home

Westhaven Children’s Home was established in 1986. It provides accommodation for disabled and mentally challenged adults and children providing nutritional support, medical care and emotional support. It currently houses 92 residents from the age groups 9-46 years old. Doctor’s Cave has been contributing to Westhaven Children’s Home since 2015.

CUMI

The Community for the upliftment of the Mentally Ill (CUMI) is a registered charity organization that has been raising funds over the past 32 years to support individuals that are mentally challenged. DCBC has partnered with this organization from 2019 and has sponsored their monthly meeting space at the DCBC conference room and contributed to their annual Golf tournament (formerly CUMi Run/Walk).
