Barracks Road Primary School has been a premier educational institution in the Western Region for over a century. The school’s student population grew significantly with a population of over 1300 and 50 teachers; the need for expansion was necessary due to overcrowding. On November 23, 2022 Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club along with other donors, officially handed over an expanded grade 6 classroom block to Barracks Road Primary School, which included: four classrooms, a resource center and 2 bathroom facilities.
Chetwood Memorial Primary School has been receiving sponsorship from Doctor’s Cave since 2019. Over the years, the school has benefited from a teacher’s stipend for their Reading Intervention Programme, purchase of equipment to upgrade technology for the school’s computer lab such as: laptops, projectors, speakers, desktop computers, a Risograph machine and the rehabilitation of the school’s roof.
In March 2025, Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club donated 22 tablets to Glendevon Primary and Infant School. These tablets are solar-powered and pre-programmed to facilitate early childhood education.
Doctor’s Cave assisted the preparatory school in the rehabilitation of the school’s playground in 2019 and the donation of three desktop computers in 2024.
The Club has been making donations to the Montego Bay Autism Center since 2012. The center is a resource for children affected by Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and with other learning challenges. The center provides tutoring for children from the ages of 2 to 18 years old. The curriculum is specially designed to ensure that each student develops their language, literacy and social skills. The center currently caters to 105 students and will eventually expand to accommodate more students. The Skills Resource Room trains students in life skills based on their interests, to help them gain independence and earn an income.
The Club began its support of the Creative Language Based Foundation (CLBF) in 2023. Founded in 2019, CLBF is a registered charity focused on improving literacy by training teachers to better support students with learning disabilities like dyslexia through the Lindamood-Bell® program. This initiative aims to enhance Jamaica’s education system, addressing the needs of the estimated 17% of the population affected by learning challenges in reading, writing, and math. Teachers spoke positively about the benefits of the training program, noting significant progress in students’ ability to comprehend the material.
