The Montego Bay Marine Park was established in 1992 and has been helping to preserve the coastal reefs and marine wildlife on the coastline of St. James by continuous monitoring and enforcing protection of the boundaries of the marine park. The park managers raise public awareness through various initiatives such as educational field trips, presentations on the environment and coastal clean ups. Additionally, the park facilitates glass bottom boat tours, research diving, bird watching and sunset tours. Since 2017, Doctor’s Cave has contributed by assisting with the purchase of a patrol boat engine and the contribution of funds towards the park’s maintenance.
