Joelle Willaims is a gymnast who has been a recipient of donations from DCBC from 2023. She has performed well locally and internationally and has capped numerous medals for her superb performance.
In 2023 she placed third in the COPA games in Panama and first at The Jamaica Classic Gymnastics Championship.
In February 2024 she competed in the Gasparilla Classic in Florida and earned two silver medals and placed 9th overall out of 48 athletes globally.
The Meet took place took place over the period March 10-12, 2023. With swim clinics conducted by our own Alia Atkinson, PamAm Aquatics Ambassador and US based Olympic swimmer Patrick Groters. Recognizing that the required infrastructure for swimming is mainly found in and around the Kingston Metropolitan regions, talented swimmers in the rural areas are usually at a disadvantage. As Ambassador, Alia Atkinson embarked on the program to highlight the invaluable impact swimming has, and to identify and encourage talented swimmers located in rural Jamaica to develop their skills to a competitive level.
Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club has sponsored Benjamin Davis in 2023 to compete in the CariftaTriathlon and Aquathlon Championships. He is a multi-talented athlete who trains to swimand a long distance runner. During the Dollhouse memorial swim meet in 2022, BenjaminDavis finished first in the 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter individual medley (IM), and200-meter freestyle, setting a new national age-group record for the 13–14 boys’ 800-meter freestyle in 9:26.45. Davis also brought 51 points to the MoBay group.
Leanna Wainwright has received donations from DCBC since 2019. She is a professional trained swimmer who competes locally and internationally.
In 2023 she competed in CCCAN games and Junior World Championships. She made history as the only female swimmer from western Jamaica to compete. In the Pan American Games she was the 2nd person from the western region in over ten years to represent at this game. During 2023 she held the fastest national times in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke for her age group(15-17). She represented Jamaica in the Carifta Games 2024 and managed to secure 2 bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke and also, a silver medal in the 4×50 freestyle relays.
December 30, 2022 Doctor’s Cave Bathing Club sponsored the Mt.Alvernia High School Swim Team with swimming gear to compete in the ISSA Swim Meet competition.
